West Islip, NY (July 13, 2024) – A multi-vehicle crash in the West Islip area on Friday, July 12, left three people injured. The accident took place on Sunrise Highway between Higbie Lane and Udall Road that afternoon around 4 p.m. Local reports indicated that 31-year-old Dominic Dentici of Ronkonkoma was traveling east on a 2000 Yamaha motorcycle on Sunrise when he lost control and crashed into the back of a 2023 Tesla.

It was revealed that 48-year-old Keith Ward of Island Park was traveling east on a 1994 Harley-Davidson motorcycle behind the Tesla and witnessed the crash. Ward attempted to avoid hitting the Tesla but also crashed into the back of the vehicle. All three drivers were injured in the collision. Dentici was transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip in serious condition. The driver of the Tesla, 37-year-old Ashish Kaushal of Lindenhurst, was transported to the same hospital for treatment. Ward was hospitalized at South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for the treatment of sustained injuries. No updates on the crash or the victims’ conditions have been provided thus far. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
